  1. EC-Council — Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)

The first and best certification I recommend in all blogs and videos is this certificate CEH- Certified Ethical Hacker, if you are a beginner in cybersecurity, close your eyes, and you can take this certification, this will help you to clear all basics of cybersecurity from A to Z. I completed this course 2 years back and helped me to clear all the basics.

The EC-Council offers the CEH Certified Ethical Hacker certification. Earn it to demonstrate your skills in penetration testing, attack detection, vectors, and prevention. The CEH certification helps you to think like a hacker and take a more proactive approach to cybersecurity. Consider this certification for jobs like:

PS: My recommendation is to do CEH-Master

Requirements: You can take the CEH exam if you have two years of work experience in information security or if you complete an official EC-Council training.

Exam Fees: 330$

If you need resources, kindly check out our previous blog.

2. Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)

Topping our 2023 list is the CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) course. In our survey, many cyber security professionals ranked CISSP as the best all-around cyber security course. In particular, respondents rated it for its relevance to the real world, the earning potential it provides, as well as how in demand it is by employers.

For example, for the question ‘Which certification(s) would you say are most in-demand by employers?’ a whopping 72% of them gave the CISSP certification as their answer

Requirements: To qualify to take the CISSP exam, you’ll need five or more years of cumulative work experience in at least two of eight cybersecurity domains. These include Security and Risk Management, Asset Security, Security Architecture and Engineering, Communication and Network Security, Identity and Access Management, Security Assessment and Testing, Security Operations, and Software Development Security.

Exam Fee: 750$

3. Practical Network Penetration Tester(PNPT)

The Practical Network Penetration Tester (PNPT), created by TCM Security (TCMS), is a 5-day ethical hacking certification exam that assesses a pentester’s ability to perform an external and internal network penetration test. It gives you more practical knowledge in the field of penetration testing. The reason to add this is Since I am pursuing my master’s program in the UK, most companies prefer this specific certificate. This is now becoming equivalent to OSCP.

Exam Fees: 340$

4. Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP)

It is one of the most popular certificates which still rules the certification industry when it comes to cybersecurity. In this certificate, you will learn more about offensive attacks. It tests your ability to compromise a series of target machines using multiple exploitation steps and produces detailed penetration test reports for each attack. Once you complete this certificate, your reputation goes higher in terms of job, but one thing is a bit difficult to crack this: you need at least 8–12 months of training before attempting the exams.

Requirements: There are no formal requirements to take the exam. Offensive Security recommends familiarity with networking, Linux, Bash scripting, Perl, or Python, as well as completion of the Penetration Testing with Kali course.

Cost: From $999 (Basic package includes Penetration Testing with Kali Linux (PWK/PEN-200) course, 30 days of lab access, and one exam attempt)

5.CompTIA Security+

It is the entry-level certification that validates the core skills for a cybersecurity role, With this certification, you demonstrate your ability to assess the security of an organization, monitor and secure cloud, mobile, and Internet of Things (IoT) environments, understand laws and regulations related to risk and compliance, and identify and respond to security incidents.

Requirements: While there are no strict requirements for taking the Security+ exam, you’re encouraged to earn your Network+ certification first and gain at least two years of IT experience with a security focus.

Cost: $370

6. Certified Information Security Manager(CISM)

Certified Information Security Manager, or CISM, is a certification that helps individuals build expertise in risk and incident management, information security programs, and other more general applications of information security.

CISM-certified professionals can design and manage an organization’s entire security infrastructure, including identifying vulnerabilities and reducing the impact of security breaches when they happen.

Requirement: To get certified with CISM, candidates should possess five years of proven work experience in information security with a minimum of three years of experience in information security management. Apart from this, individuals should complete 20 hours of Continuing Professional Education (CPE) to ensure their competency.

Exam Fees: 760$
