1. Play with Hacking Gadgets

Here, I am not telling you to buy some expensive hacking gadgets which cost thousands of bucks instead, buy some gadgets which are listed on Amazon, such as Alpha Wifi Adapter, Rasberry Pi 4, Flipper Zero, Rubber USB duck, USB sniffers, etc., you can even borrow this from your university or from your friends, now the important thing here is, once you get this, watch some youtube videos read articles, and try to understand what’s the purpose of the gadgets, and where this specific device can be used and how it can be used in the real world. If you even boot your Kali Linux with Raspberry PI, it will be a biggest achievement, and the main thing is that you will get confidence here, so just play with it.

2) Recover a HardDisk and Practice Data Recovery

Get a hard disk, try to delete some files and try to recover them via software and hardware, this will improve your defensive side security, i.e. Blue team skills, so if you want, you can use software like Autopsy, Encase, and disk drill to recover it. If you don’t have a harddisk , buy a 2GB USB drive, and delete some files, play with autopsy and try to recover it, learning the above-mentioned software is used professionally by digital forensics investigators.

3) Develop a Simple KeyLogger Python Tool.

I know coding is hard for beginners, but simple Python basics are enough to develop a keylogger tool, there are many, GitHub codes out there, yet try to develop on your own with your creative ideas and necessary libraries, if you want, refer to blogs and videos but not GitHub, it all about learning so try to develop the tool on your own creative idea. Once you have done buy a bad USB, upload the code and try to exploit it in a virtual machine, which won’t affect your main OS.

4) Learn Data hiding techniques (Steganography)

Here, starting from changing the logo of an app to advanced concepts like NTFS data hiding, try to learn step by step. If you’re a beginner, begin by solving a couple of TryHackMe boxes; this will introduce you to the basics of data hiding. Gradually, you can increase your knowledge by exploring techniques like hiding data in images, using the Caesar cypher method, hiding data in videos, and eventually diving into hiding data within NTFS file systems. Remember, it’s all about learning. You can refer to blogs on Medium websites and watch YouTube videos to grasp these concepts. Start with simple basics in each area, and you will automatically progress to mastering more advanced concepts.

5) Try To Improve Your OSINT Skills

If you’re not familiar with OSINT, it stands for Open Source Intelligence. This skill is commonly used to investigate real-time cases, such as determining the location of a place, analyzing plane crashes (including their location), gathering information about specific users, and collecting data like phone numbers from breaches or email addresses using tools such as Hunter. Your task is to select an Instagram or Facebook account and attempt to gather as much information as possible about the target. You can refer to videos and blogs for guidance. Additionally, if you’re interested in a course on OSINT, I’ve already posted one, and you can find the link below. One of the most useful tools for OSINT is Maltego.

The video discusses how to use OSINT to determine the location of a victim.
